The Power of Letting Go
By: Chris Spheeris ©2002 Spirithouse In© (ASCAP)
I once was a leaf among leaves on a tree Where I grew and I shaded the things beneath me When the wind blew strong I held the tree tight When the sun lit the heavens I reached for the light And I passed many days without worry or care Till asleep, I awakened to a change in the air And the wind brought a chill I grew stiff in the cold My color turned pale And my hands wouldn’t hold… Now a leaf that is free I spiral and float To the water below And I ride like a boat And I float off to places I never would know Through the power of letting go. I once was a wave I was steady and strong In the rhythm of ripples I traveled along And I crossed a great distance that all looked the same A wave among waves in a place with no name. Time went by and a shoreline appeared Whispering of changes and endings I feared And I couldn’t go back and I wouldn’t go under So I rode to the sand in the foam and the thunder… Now a splash from the wave I dance to the skies Where the sun makes me vapor And weightless I rise… And I’m carried to places I never would know Through the power of letting go.

The Tree
Music: Gary William Friedman Lyrics: Will Holt © Alley Music Corp./ Trio Music Company, In©
This man I know Has an apple tree he’s hoping will grow Day after day he waits, and what does he see Not one apple on the tree. This man I know waits all winter And the tree will not grow ‘til late in spring with still no fruit to be found he goes out to chop it down. Lo and behold Like a miracle swept in from the sea Lo and behold there’s a fog so thick The man can’t see to cut the tree. Next morning he All excited he comes running to me Right there for all to see Way up on a bough Small and weak but hanging on somehow Is a baby apple now.

All Is Well
By: Cinde Borup
Come into this forest deep and dark And walk along the path that’s winding through Gaze upon each shadow that lies silent And waiting and watching, watching you Although the forest seems so dark and still Unpenetrated by the smallest light Soon the path continues up the hill And opens under starry starry night And all is well And all is right All is well There is safety in the starry starry night Untie the boat and drift out slip out in the stream Into the mighty current deep and wide Up above a storm is gathering The shore is growing farther from my sight Though the river runs so cold and fast Unchallenged by this tiny boat I row By and by the rapids all are passed And there is comfort in the gentle river’s flow And all is well I’m safe and sound All is well There is peace upon my river Homeward bound Come into this house so filled with light And walk among these people here today Everyone is sharing in this flight Everyone a traveler on their way We reach our destinations even though Every journey seems to hold some tears We look into ourselves to find the strength If we listen deep inside We just might hear That all is well And all is right all is well There is healing in the starry starry night And all is well I’m safe and sound All is well, all is well There is peace upon my river Homeward bound

Dream
Music: Shaina Noll Lyrics: Adapted by Shaina from the Walt Whitman poem “Darest Thou Now, Oh Soul”
Darest thou now oh soul Walk with me into the unknown regions Where neither ground is for the feet Nor any path to follow All is undreamed of there All is undreamed of there… Darest Thou Darest thou now oh soul Walk with me Into the unknown regions Where neither ground is for your feet Nor any path to follow All is undreamed of there Walk with me And dream… Darest thou Darest thou now oh soul Walk with me Into the unknown No ground is there For your feet No path is there No path to follow All is undreamed of there Walk with me into the unknown Walk with me And dream… Darest thou Darest thou now oh soul Walk with me No ground is there No path is there No path to follow All is undreamed of there Let’s dream… Into the unknown Walk with me Into the unknown And dream All is undreamed of there Walk with me and dream Darest thou now, oh soul Darest thou now, oh soul Dream… Darest thou now, oh soul?
You Can Relax Now offers 9 songs to soothe, inspire and uplift the listener. Some tell a story, some weave a chant, some offer a new look at familiar spiritual concepts. Each song, in its own way, affirms the presence of the Divine in all things.
The vision for this CD began when I was inspired to write the song Each Holy Child. As the vision expanded, 8 other songs were written, re-written, or chosen. Over time, the collection evolved into an expression of my deep, personal belief that no one, and nothing, is an exception to the category of Divine. For me, this is the ultimate foundation for trust in oneself and the Universe; if all is truly Divine, perhaps there is nothing to fear. If there is nothing to fear, perhaps, as the last song suggests, we are free to dream up a new way of being.
Each of these songs, in its own way, addresses the question: “Could you relax now, if you believed this was true?” Some tell a story, some weave a chant, some offer a new look at familiar spiritual concepts. Each of the songs has deeply supported me in making the transition from a life based in fear, to a life based in trust.
Creating this recording has been a deep and intimate process for me. The songs have been powerful teachers and companions in my ongoing journey of healing and awakening. If they prove to be the same for you, if there is something here that soothes, inspires or uplifts you, I will be delighted.

Music Design: In Review
Soul Stirring melodies and equally emotional lyrics grace You Can Relax Now from vocalist/musician Shaina Noll. Designed with the goal of imparting inspiration and tranquility to the listener, some of these songs are story-based, others offer a quiet chant — in each case the central message is peace, and it’s communicated very powerfully. The beautiful Each Holy Child is a great example of this, blending gentle piano melodies with spiritually soothing lyrics sung in her crystalline voice.
Other memorable tracks include The Power Of Letting Go, based on a Chris Spheeris song, and the sublime Angels Watching Over Me. -

You Can Relax Now took my breath away when I first heard it, and each replay continues to touch me in a very deep and powerful way. What Shaina and her husband Richard have given birth to reflects the concept that we really can relax, in spite of what we see happening in the external world. Many people are seeing the Universe in a new way, with greater trust and assurance that all is well. I hope you will find this CD as soul-affirming as I have.

I feel like I could heal my wounded soul just by listening to this CD over and over again. The piano prelude of Angels Watching Over Me bought tears to my eyes, allowing me to feel the transition from fear to trust. The Tree reminds me that even when we may believe something is not possible, we are often shown the way, in ways we would never imagine.
Be Still and Know/Sunrise is Here brings forth a meditative energy that is uplifting and evokes a feeling of deep spirituality. The power of the lyrics are magnified by Shaina’s angelic voice.
